For
more than a decade, Shifty Morgan has been entertaining audiences
across the prairies. Their sound is a blend of country tradition and
driving rhythm, giving them that edge that defines new country.
With a wide variety of country/rock cover tunes and strong, well
crafted original songs (all written by lead vocalist/guitarist
Anthony Kelly), Shifty Morgan appeals to a wide range of country
music fans.
Although the band has experienced many highlights throughout the
years, 2001 was a defining year for Shifty Morgan. This was the
year that the band captured the title of regional winner in Project
Discovery, a nationwide talent search, which took the band to the
national finals at Country Music Week in Calgary. Since then, the
accomplishments just keep on coming:
-
Debut CD, “Anything But Easy”, which was into production in 2000,
was completed and released in 2002, produced by Kevin Churko
(engineer for Shania Twain’s “Up”) and Bart McKay (producer for Brad
Johner, Gord Bamford, Heather Dawn), distributed by Royalty Records
of Edmonton. The CD has produced six singles – Hasn’t Been Me,
Closer to Blue, She Ain’t Lonely Yet, Old Man in the Mirror, Now
That Day is Gone, and A Hundred Years From Now - all Top 100
Cancountry hits.
